We invite you to become familiar with Camassia by exploring our capabilities described on this website. The tabs at the top of the page provide information on some of our specific areas of specialization.
Camassia is the Latin name for a useful and beautiful genus of plant found in the Pacific Northwest, where we are based. The camas plant was an important food source for our native tribes, but importantly camas was one of the foods that sustained the Lewis and Clark Corps of Discovery. In fact, camas bread saved the Corps from starvation at one point. That's how we think of our mission at Camassia – as supporting and nourishing scientific exploration and discovery.
“The quawmash is now in blume and from the colour … at a short distance it resembles lakes of fine clear water, so complete is this deseption that on first sight I could have swoarn it was water.”
